MSC Poesia World Cruise Barcelona Jan 7, 2024
Jet lag again.... I woke up at 3am again and fell back asleep at 5am. This caused me to ignore my alarm at 7 and sleep until 8:30. Fortunately, I realized my mistake and made it to breakfast in time for cappuccino in the dining room with eggs Benedict. (The eggs were a bit cold but I was one of the last people seated at a table)
After breakfast, I grabbed a quick shower and prepped for the day.
The weather was stellar and I decided to skip my shopping plan and hike to the top at Montjuïc instead.
The world cruise provided a free shuttle across the bridge to the old cruise terminal which meant my hike to the top was about 40 minutes each way and 5km total (3.5 miles).I had a lovely hike and enjoyed the locals biking jogging and walking their dogs.
I didn’t tour Montjuïc this time but I can include some pictures from my tour last time. Rick Steves offers a great self tour if you are interested.
I took a nice video of the hike down if you want some ASMR background while you work.
Once down, I grabbed the free shuttle back to the ship and headed to the dining room for lunch. The dining room is open even on port days from 12 to 130PM which is very nice.
I had a salad and a Cuban sandwich as well as flan for lunch. I went back to my cabin and had a shower. Afterwards, I went down to customer service to make sense of my onboard credits as I believe they are missing some of the reimbursement from excursions. After waiting in many lines, I headed back up and continued to unpack before dinner time. For dinner, I ordered a shish kabob as an appetizer and the lasagna as a main. For dessert I had the crème Catalan.
After dinner, I caught the tail end of the Flamenco show. I like to preview the grand finale of the shows because if I am amazed, I can catch the later performance. If not, I can get more sleep to prepare for my early excursion tomorrow.
Cuban sandwich and Shish Kabob on an Italian ship in Spain. Very international. Enjoy your day!
