Carnival Luminosa Day 9: April 20, 2023 Sea Day

I was up after the time change at 745 to get ready for the daily coffee delivery. My first peek out my curtain was pouring rain pelting off the lifeboat.
Room service deluvered at 755. Today, only the fruit was missing.
I headed down to play my $5 credit in the casino and had a coffee. I grabbed a. Soduku puzzle from the Java cafe and picked up a breakfast burrito. After a nice shower (the drain problem has stayed fixed), I joined in on the digital scavenger hunt with 3 random strangers.
We had to get a picture of 5 people in thongs (that's Australian for flip flops), a team member doing thw Donna pose (Donna is the bizarre statue in rhe lobby), selfies with the cruise direrror, a fabulous mustache, propose to a crew member, etc.) A fun time was had by all. 3 teams completed all of the activities but our team and another tied with the most points. The tie breaker was a paper copy of the events for the day and I knew exactly where the closest copy was because I go to rhe Java blue Cafe every day to get it. We were all given medals... no more golden ship on a stick in these lean times.
I prepped my second bag of laundry (I get 5 on this cruise) and then uploaded my blog posts for the last 3 days. Internet has been very good since Suva but I only buy it every other day. Carnival only sells it by the day on this cruise and Google Fi worked in Fiji so I didn't purchase it that day or yesterday. (The 48 hour April 19) Internet speed was terrible the night before Suva and I was given an extra 10 hours which didn't work until 6AM when all my email started to come into my inbox and wake up my phone.
I headed up for lunch at the burrito bar (a fish burrito) and a bit of ice cream for dessert.
I worked on the sudoku puzzle and watched the ballroom dance finale before heading to the comedians R rated matinee show. Tomorrow all the Australian comedians will be replaced with Americans in Tahiti.
Today's comedian.was Gabriel Rossi and he played funny parody songs and told.a lot of jokes. He was moderately funny. As a disclaimer, I have only ever found fhe woman comedian on the Bliss in January to be funny... should I shave or let it grow is still stuck in my head. Gabriel finished his show with a Bohemian Rhapsody song about a 51 year old Italian boy trying to move out of his parents home. It was Ok, just long.
I went back to my room and celebrated the lack of activities with a nice long nap. I woke to an announcement to tell me to check my app to see all the amazing things going on around the ship. There are at least 3 of these per day. I miss Virgin where the only announcement you'll hear is an emergency. I prefer silence when I am in my stateroom.
I haven't mentioned the guest lecturers on this ship. There are a couple of naturalists that have covered flora and fauna of New Caledonia and Fiji as well as New Zealand. They also talked about wildlife photography. Unfortunately, they have been scheduled at lunchtime so I have missed out on them. Mid afternoon, another lecturer has discussed features of the iPhone and other tips and tricks with the iPhone.  I have skipped these simply because I am trying to break my iPhone habit.
Dinner was quick tonight. I ordered a mango cold soup, wild boar, fried chicken, and roasted pineapple. The food was good.
The waiters danced but I had my dessert so I didn't mind at all.
I left the dining room with plenty of time to get a good seat at the production show Vintage Pop.
I really like the seat spacing. People walk right by without me having to stand up.
Vintage Pop showcased the 8 singers and dancers as well as 6 folks from the Carnival house band. They did a variety of songs from the roaring 20s to modern songs like All About that Base. It was another great show. The costumes were great as well as the props. The singers are very talented and they really do well with the band. I wish they would repeat shows on multiple nights for a long cruise like this.
After the show I headed back to the stateroom to relax a bit before going to bed. We are in Tahiti tomorrow and Moorea on Saturday. I am really hoping the weather is nice for us but the forecast does not look great.
These sea days are fun but I definitely look forward to the days in port.
Do you like a lot of sea days? I am an every other port day type of guy... or even better, overnights in good ports. What do you think?
Happy Cruising!
