Diamond Princess Day 22: 6 Mar 2023 Day at Sea

Up early and checked the view out of the balcony. Then I headed out for my daily coffee walk.... up to the buffet for a free coffee, to the aft end of the ship for a look, then down to the dining room for a picture on 6, back to 7 to walk to mid ship and then down to 5 for coffee. It seems like a longer walk than it actually is.

The angle off the back of the ship had been the best way to see the sunrise until we changed direction in Guam.

I had breakfast in the buffet and worked on the sudoku puzzle for the day. After that, I googled luggage storage in HND airport. I had to decide if I would get a day use hotel or maybe dump my luggage and tour around to see something. I needed to stay out of the stateroom until the crew finished the drills they were unable to do since we didn't stop in Saipan. I didn't want to listen to the million announcements so found a quiet corner.

After an hour, I went down to the destination expert desk to discuss my options but she wasn't sure and offered to google it for me. I decided to go on my own.

There was also a lecture about the relationship between Japan and the US by a college professor but I skipped it. Sometimes they put them on TV and I watch them before bed.

I had reservations at the Italian specialty restaurant Sabatini's in the evening so for lunch, I ordered room service in my stateroom to check it out. The chef's salad and the tuna were great! The quesadillas were not edible to my taste. I don't like nacho cheese with jalapeno... it was easy to skip that!

PRO TIP: If you don't like food on a ship, don't eat it! There are so many food options on the ship it is hard not to gain weight just looking at them, let alone eat them.

Sabatini's is a six course Italian dinner for a $25 price per person. The restaurant was on deck 7 on the Diamond Princess beside the sushi restaurant and photo area.

The cheese bread they brought was excellent. I dipped it in the leftover marinara sauce from the Arancini Della Casa rice balls.

I had the Insalata Mista (Mixed Salad) and Fritto Misto.

chose the Porcini Mushroom Risotto for my Primi Piatti and the Ossobuco for my Secondi Piatti. The ossobuco was sitting on a bed of risotto so that duplication was a mistake on my part.
I had the Chef's specialty for dessert which was a sampler of all of the other desserts (Rocher, Tiramisu, Panna Cotta, and Zabaglione Marsala). I was uncomfortably stuffed.
Then we were treated to the sunset as it set right outside the window seat. The whole restaurant paused and watched it set.

Dinner was done in a little over an hour. People had complained it was slow and the service was bad. That was not my experience at all. It was a great experience and totally worth the $25 I spent on it. (I had shareholder and onboard credit to use)
I dressed up a little for the white and gold Love Boat party in the Atrium. There was singing and dancing by the crew and then the passengers. It was fun.
These busy sea days have made the time fly by. Every evening I am happy to go sleep and wake up the next day to do it again. Thanks for taking this trip with me.
Happy Cruising!
