Diamond Princess Day 20: 4 Mar 2023 Day at Sea

I woke up early to get ready to be ready for the tender as early as possible. My first view was of the harbor of Saipan where there was a barge anchored.

I went up to the buffet and had a big breakfast to prepare for the long day on my excursion touring around Saipan. I also had a chance to review some pictures of my grandfather who was stationed here in World War II.

Lots of family at home were eager to hear about the visit. Unfortunately, we were supposed to anchor by 8AM.

I realized we were pulling away from Saipan and saw the tender boat move away. The seas were calm but there was a strong wind. We were so close but so far away. The captain came over the speaker and explained that we had a very narrow slot through the coral reef and with the wind it was just too risky.
I was lazy all day and watched documentaries on Saipan and reviewed pictures of my grandfather and fellow troops.

Scallop ceviche and Beet Salad was a tasty appetizer.

Skirt Steak Fajitas were surprisingly tasty. I was not seeing anything interesting and my waiter Noel was very helpful with his recommendation as always!
For dessert, I had the Orange Grand Marnier Souffle. They came and poured a sweet custard sauce over the souffle which was still warm and gooey. It was delicious.

After dinner, I stalked the final member of the crew and was able to get his signature in the gym on the ship. I am so glad to be finally done with the crazy scavenger hunt.

I went down and found Elle after her show and told her about the mission complete!  All in all it was a day filled with mixed emotions. I am glad the cruise line keeps us safe, but heartbroken to miss the port that was the reason I chose this specific cruise itinerary.

Happy Cruising!!
