Norwegian Bliss Day 8: 1/14/23 Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala

I was up earlier than neceasary due to a time change last night. At 8:45 the Garden Cafe was once again packed. I ate a quick breakfast and went back to organize all my remaining excursion tickets into envelopes on which I wrote the date, meeting place and time. This will make it easier for me to be sure the correct envelope is in my pack the night before.
Pueto Quetzal is new but Antigua is the real prize. I did Antigua on Your Own which cost $50 and gave a 3 hour roundtrip bus ride and 3 hours in Antigua.
Antigua is a lovely old city and the guide gave us the history leason on the ride.
I saw many old churches, the old gate, and the Starbucks which is absolutely lovely given it has free bathrooms and free wifi. I sat in their beautiful courtyard and downloaded a couple Netflix episode. Seriously though, it really is the nicest Starbucks I have ever been in.
I also had a chance to send some emails for work with attachments that have been difficult to send via unlreliable ship wifi.
We had to be back to the bus at 5:20 and everyone was back on time. It is probably because we knew there was a restroom on the bus.
I should also mention the ride was beautiful from the port with ever ominous volcanoes in the background. Another ever presence is the absolute poverty. Many families literally live in a concrete box or one made of corrugated roofing.
The streets in the town were rough and uneven cobblestones. The roads to the town were narrow and sometimes we navigated past rockslides.
We made it back to the ship aboit 7:20 and went straight to dinner. I had the Asparagus Risotto and Mahi Mahi.
Since we had a time change last night, we finished dinner at what was 10pm. I was wiped out and managed to post before falling asleep.

Internet is still unreliable.
HAPPY CRUISING!!
