Virgin Valiant Lady Day 7: Sea Day Brunch
Sea days come with no expectations and minimal.pressure. Last night I noticed some open spots in Sunrise stretch and guided breathing classes so I signed myself up. 7AM seems earlier and earlier even though we are adding an hour onto each day. Internet seems stable and fairly speedy today. I have hope.
it really is nice to start the class with your eyes closed, do a half hour of relaxing yoga and then open your eyes to a sunrise... today it is stormy but the sun is there somewhere. Today's theme is Joy. Or was it happiness, or love? In.any case, you get the picture.
My friends wanted to have brunch in the Wake because there is an unlimited bloody mary special for $25.
We ordered a nice breakfast and had great conversations but as the time dragged on it became more about drinking as much as possible. We were there from 8:45 to 1:15 at which point we went to a music trivia.
I think now would be a great time to point out how alcohol works on Virgin. They don't have an unlimited drinks package. This means that you pay as you go. Please note that there are also many chances to "win" a free round of drinks at Trivia, or by playing various game on board, or by attending various parties. There are also mixology classes, tastings, and pairing.opportunities for a fee of around $25 where you can get many drinks for a "low" flat price. Also, please note that Virgin allows you to bring on 2 bottles of wine to drink in your stateroom at no charge.
At every specialty restaurant they have served us a shot glass full of a welcome drink special which we could then purchase in a large glass. I feel Virgin is extremely generous with their free Alcohol. Not only that, if you pre make a $300 beverage deposit, they tack on an extra $100.
Unfortunately, thrify cruisers that pay for their drinks each time are compelled to want to get the best value. Some thrifty cruisers will drink to excess when they are otherwise rational people when given unlimited drinks in a time window such unlimited mimosas for brunch. (You know.who.you are!)
On a lighter note, let's take a tour of Deck 15 starting in the Aft.. I have heard so many aft jokes so far on this voyage.
A large back deck offers a.glorious view of the ocean and is a.lovely place to sit and eat al fresco.
As you walk in through an automatic door you see an elevator lobby on the left. THE GRAY DOOR.IN THE MIDDLE IS AN ALL GENDER BATHROOM!!! I have been searching for this bathroom for 7 days. So many non descript gray doors or for the crew. I have been walking to the front of the ship to use the restroom. Ok, moving on to the right.
Unlike most cruise ships, the design of this ship means only one side is your passage front to back. As we move to the front, you see the panini bar on the left and some seating on the right.
Note that there are some tables with outlets and I have seen groups of people working on them.
This taco place serves fancy tacos for breakfast and lunch. There is a.posicle cart (juice popsicles).which is manned at mealtimes.
and a bakery counter
Gunbae Korean BBQ is tucked down the port side of the ship opposite the corridor of panini, noodle, and taco bars.
As we walk forward there is a salad bar.
Please note that here at midship by the entrances from the elevator we have grab and go selections and Bento sushi options for easy quick meal options.
To the left of the elevators are the treadmills and spin machines.
Tonight's show was a nerd who did rubik's cubes one handed, blind folded, and also did some card tricks.
All in all, a relaxing.sea day. We have another time change tonight.
Fortunately, the Internet seemed stable.all day.
HAPPY CRUISING!
