MSC Poesia Day 4: Marseilles

Welcome to Marseilles, France!
I have nice memories of this port from a cruise in May 2016  with lavender fields in Provence all in bloom.
i visted the lovely town of Avignon with the Palace of the Pope. The cruise ship excursion gave us an hour for lunch so i ran down the hill to see the ruins of the Saint Benezet Bridge.
The tour concluded with a visit to Pont du Gard aquaduct and museum.
i vowed to return someday and kayak this river. I have returned several times to Povence since 2016 but have not yet managed to Kayak under the Pont du Gard aquaduct.

Part of my status match entitles me to a free specialty meal for two which on this ship is the Asian Restaurant. For those of you not wikd about sushi, I asked them to could cook it and they did.
Miso Soup
Shrimp Skewer Salad with passion fruit (sukanpi tataki) I could have eaten 100 of these.
A variety of cooked sushi items that were delciious.
Matcha (green tea) ice cream for dessert.

All in all, the meal was excellent. My only complaint was that my bottled water promo only works in the main dining room.

OVERALL this status match benefit is a great perk! The Poesia only has one specialty restaurant so this was the only choice. You cannot bring your own beverages and they wanr to try to sell you something to drink. I have had some success in the past by bringing my own water bottle from the dining room. This time.I elected to eat everything without a beverage.

Another useful tip to be aware of- the waitress said that since I am allowed to bring two people for my status perk, I am allowed to dine there again without paying extra. It is definitely tasty! I do not believe this was the policy on the MSC Divina but it is worth a try if you travel solo like.I do.

Until next time- Happy Cruising!

  1. Oh, one of my favorite places I have ever visited was Avignon! Such happy memories there. The Pont Du Gard was an amazing place to visit, I found the river very peaceful. But also the first time I had vertigo, which I know suffer from more frequently, was on the aqueduct. Not the best place to be when experiencing vertigo. Looks like a lovely day. There is also a subterranean chapel in a nearby town that was one of the most spiritual places I have ever visited. I wish I could remember the name of the town, it was closer to the mouth of the river.
