MSC Poesia Day 3: Genoa (Laundry Day)

Welcome to Genoa, italy!

Today is probably a good day to talk about laundry. I don't pack a lot of clothes so I have to rewear a lot of what I bring. That means I try to keep up with my dirty laundry.

Fortunately on Norwegian, I have cruised enough to get a bag of laundry washed for free every week or so and that is a fantastic perk. I collect it in a dirty laundry bag and NCL washes it for me. Some Carnival ships have laundry rooms for passengers to wash their own laundry on board. On MSC, neither option is a thing. Instead MSC has a laundry list (pun intended) of prices listed per item.
I elected to wash a couple days worth of shirts and undergarments which by my calculations would cost me over $12 to have washed for me. $2.90 per shirt, $1.90 per underwear, $1.90 for socks.
First I fill the sink with hot water and then put some shampoo from the shower on my hand and then mix up the water to make bubbles.
I squeeze the clothes and add more water until the sink is full.
Soak the clothes for 5 minutes. Then drain, squeeze, and rinse again until the water stays clean.
Wring each piece of clothing out. You can put it in a towel and stand on it if your hands are tired.
I bring a short piece of.parachute cord since the clothesline in the shower is short. My laundry will be dry by this evening. I feel it is worth the 10 minutes to save $30.
When i was looking to book this cruise, I noted that MSC offers many less expensive cruise options out of Genoa. When I looked online, I was led to believe the transfers were not available from Milan (MXP). The good news is that MSC offers a city tour excuraion that ends at the MXP airport for flights after 1900 (7pm) so I'll keep that in mind for future cruising.
